As the vibrant colours of spring & summer surround us, we are reminded of the multitude of blessings that grace our lives each day. It is with profound gratitude that we gather together as Jesus followers, cherishing our unity and the love that binds us. Today, let us pause and reflect on the need for gratitude in our lives and how we can practice it towards one another and our Almighty God.

When we journey through the pages of the Bible, we witness countless moments of thankfulness exhibited by God's people. The Psalms overflow with expressions of gratitude, and the apostle Paul continually reminds us to, "Give thanks in all circumstances" (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Gratitude is not simply an emotion, but a transformational attitude that shifts our focus from what we lack, to what we've been blessed with.

As followers of Jesus, we ought to be the epitome of gratitude, radiating appreciation through our words, actions, and relationships. The church should be a place where gratitude resides abundantly, flowing from one heart to another. Let us strive to create an environment where gratitude manifests in our interactions and conversations, where appreciation is extended to our pastors, leaders, volunteers, and to one another. Take a moment today to think of those who have impacted your journey and reach out to express your gratitude, for every word spoken in thankfulness strengthens the fabric of our community.

Yet, our gratitude must extend far beyond human connections. We, as believers, need to be continually grateful to our Heavenly Father, who bestows countless blessings upon us daily. He has gifted us with eternal salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, unending grace, and an overflowing love that knows no bounds. Each sunrise that blankets the sky, each breath we take, and each bond forged with our brothers and sisters in Christ, should evoke deep gratitude towards our Maker. May our lives be an outpouring of thankfulness, a living testimony of the transformative power of God's love and faithfulness.

So today, dear church family, I challenge you to practice gratitude intentionally. Pause amidst the busyness of life and count your blessings. Reflect on the countless ways God has shown His faithfulness and provision. Seek out opportunities to express appreciation to those around you, both within and outside the church walls. Let gratitude become a tangible part of your life, allowing it to shape your attitudes, actions, and relationships. Together, let us create a culture of thankfulness, where every interaction resonates with gratitude and joy.

May our lives be marked by hearts that overflow with gratitude, acknowledging the goodness of our Heavenly Father and expressing it towards one another. May our church be a place where thanksgiving is contagious, spreading hope, joy, and unity.

With much gratitude and love,
David Peñate
